Rather than focusing on diagnosis or treatment, coaching focuses on where you are now, where you want to be, and what steps can help you move toward achieving your goals.

How is coaching different from counseling or therapy?

Counseling and therapy often focus on diagnosing, treating, and healing mental health concerns or exploring experiences from the past. Mental health coaching is future-focused and action-oriented. We focus on where you are today, what may be keeping you stuck, where you want to go, and the practical steps that can help you move forward. Coaching does not replace therapy or other mental health treatment, but it can provide encouragement, accountability, and support as you work toward personal growth and meaningful goals.

What happens if I need mental health treatment beyond coaching?

If at any point I believe that your needs would be better supported by a licensed mental health professional, I will talk with you openly about that and encourage you to seek the appropriate care. This doesn’t necessarily mean our coaching relationship has to end. When appropriate, I’m happy to continue walking alongside you while you work with your therapist, focusing on your goals, practical next steps, and continued growth.
